The Compensation Specialist provides assistance in administering employee compensation plans.  Administers employment transactions, responds to salary surveys, performs audits and performs basic job pricing.

Responsibilities

  1. Assists with administration of employee compensation programs
  2. Provides support for annual merit planning, communication, and implementation, as well as supporting a variety of other pay programs (faculty, students, teachers, nurses, and union staff, etc.)
  3. Reviews employee pay transactions and contractor payment requests; acts as primary liaison with Employee Services, Payroll, Accounts Payable and other departments to resolve related issues and facilitate timely and accurate transaction processing
  4. Administers six-month review process
  5. Completes salary survey submissions and maintains salary survey library to ensure ease of use; serves on survey committees and attends related seminars.
  6. Maintains data, files, reference materials and web pages
  7. Performs internal audits, responds to data requests and assists with policy interpretation
  8. Drafts job descriptions and performs salary research and basic job pricing
  9. Provides backup across functional areas for peak projects and in the event of absences
  10. Continually review and improve business processes
  11. Conducts and assists with special compensation and benefits projects

Qualifications

Needs to function as a flexible member of the compensation and benefits team in a fast pace environment.   Must maintain confidentiality of all information and records.

 

Requires a bachelor’s degree, 1 year of compensation experience (2 years is preferred), strong mathematical and Excel skills.  Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, logic and reasoning skills and attention to detail.

 

Experience with Access, PeopleSoft and Tableau are preferred.
