Overview

Responsibilities

A Clinical Research Division laboratory that studies the biology of blood and marrow stem cells and develops novel gene therapy approaches is recruiting a research technician to assist with development and optimization of gene transfer vector production and purification technologies. The focus of the position will be in process development and optimization of large scale vector production and purification utilizing standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices (cGMP) with the goal of manufacturing clinical grade viral vectors. The position may involve additional responsibilities. This position affords the motivated technician an opportunity to develop/utilize both tissue culture and molecular biology skills.

 

Qualifications

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in a biological science or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Laboratory experience with cell cultures and molecular biological techniques is required.

Expertise in molecular biology techniques (nucleic acid purification, DNA manipulations, and PCR) and/or

viral vector production is highly desired. Good documentation practices, and an ability to consistently perform delicate tasks according to established procedures is of importance. To be successful in this position, the candidate must be highly motivated, possess a high level of initiative, work carefully, and keep detailed records. S/he must also be capable of working independently in a team environment. Self-motivated candidates with excellent organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, and those who work well in a multidisciplinary team environment are encouraged to apply.
