This is a position within the Prevention Center Human Nutrition Lab (HNL). This person is responsible for working with the HNL Supervisory staff in the implementation and data collection of the individualized study diets. In accordance with established study protocols and procedures, this person will monitor participants during the dining and clinic visits. They are responsible for dietary data collection from participants and related data entry. Additional core duties include the preparation and distribution of meals to research participants.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent works with minimal supervision and is expected to use initiative and sound judgment in carrying-out responsibilities within the framework of the department/study policies and procedures and is expected to keep abreast of changes in protocols and procedures related to work responsibilities. Assumes a lead role, assisting HNL Supervisory team in overseeing Research Cook I's, hourly Lab assistants and volunteer interns. May contribute to the work of other staff working in the HNL on all active studies as needed.
A Bachelors degree in nutrition is desired but a two-year Diet Technician degree with 2 years of institutional food service experience and nutritional software experience is acceptable. Must possess a valid Washington state food handler’s permit or obtain one after being hired. Accurate record keeping and mathematical skills required. Must have knowledge of basic food preparation; nutrition and food composition. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, specifically MS Word and Excel or other spreadsheets and databases. Must have good interpersonal skills. Must exhibit dependability and willingness to work as part of a team.
