The Annual Giving Manager serves as part of the Philanthropy team and reports to the Associate Director, Annual Giving. The Annual Giving Manager is expected to take initiative, be a self-starter and be able to work independently. Must maintain professionalism, be flexible and able to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities and remain composed under the pressure of deadlines. Must exhibit dependability and willingness to work as an integral member of the Philanthropy team and be capable of working well within all levels of the organization. The Annual Giving Manager must be able to effectively communicate the mission, values and scope of the institution. Some travel, weekend and evening work may be required.



Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Partners with the Associate Director, Annual Giving to grow and sustain Fred Hutch’s Philanthropy membership programs; Innovators Network, President’s Circle and a new mid-level program
  • Leads teams of fundraising volunteers, including membership Councils and the Board of Ambassadors, to grow awareness and philanthropic support of Fred Hutch
  • Works as a liaison with volunteers and internal stakeholders to build meaningful relationships for donors
  • Responsible for establishing and implementing new procedures and processes when needed
  • Actively partners with the Communications, Philanthropic Gifts and Donor Information Systems teams on strategy, execution and analysis of projects
  • Ensures program coordination with Annual Giving Assistant
  • Prepares monthly reporting and analysis of membership programs to Associate Director, Annual Giving
  • Completes ad-hoc projects and assignments as assigned by the Associate Director, Annual Giving


Summary of Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • A minimum of five years of experience working in nonprofit fundraising with a focus on volunteer management and frontline fundraising of individual donors
  • Project management and volunteer coordination experience required
