Fred Hutch Center IT (CIT) is looking for a technology focused business analyst to support portfolio of process improvement and technical projects in support of our mission: Providing IT & data services to accelerate the elimination of disease.


As an IT business analyst, you will work closely with peers (project managers, business leads and technical stakeholders) to identify and document opportunities for improving processes, vendor selection and technical solutions provided by CIT. The IT-BA plays a key role between business stakeholders and IT teams to translate business needs and objectives into technology solutions. This role assesses problem statements, conducts analysis, validates requirements to design a successful IT solution.


  • Play a pivotal role in ensuring IT understanding of requirements and serve as liaison between business and technology staff, identifying and resolving gaps
  • Drives authoring/co-authoring business cases; identifies opportunities for future enhancements and modifications
  • Conduct market research to assess vendor landscape, conduct competitive vendor analysis and assist with creating evaluation criteria for vendor selection.
  • Work with subject matter experts to develop solution architecture diagrams and process maps
  • Leads team through detailed system and business process analysis; ensures enhancements and solutions positively contribute to, expand upon, and do not conflict with overarching strategy
  • Utilize multiple problem solving methods to identify and solution gaps from a functional perspective
  • Authors UAT scenarios, reviews test plans with team to ensure product will meet acceptance criteria
  • BA deliverables include, but  are not limited to the following: Business case and associated system and or functional requirements, end user documentation, traceability matrices, UAT test requirements, As-Is and To-Be work flows


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a technology focused business analyst
  • BA/BS Computer Science, Business or related field
  • IIBA or PMI BA accreditation preferred but not required
  • Strong writing skills and ability to produce clear and unambiguous documentation
  • Proficient creating diagrams and process flows in Visio or similar software
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with multiple problem solving methods and ability to use them as appropriate
  • Experience identifying and resolving requirement impacting issues, working with members of project management team, SME's and executives to develop and implement viable solutions
  • Demonstrates competent consulting skills and experience to bridge the gap between technology and business operations to enable organizations to make effective decisions
